Optimal Design of High-Speed Double-Sided Linear Permanent Magnet Motors With Segmented Trapezoidal Magnetic Poles

For the kilometer-level electromagnetic launch system, a high-speed double-sided linear permanent magnet (PM) motor is presented in this paper. To enhance average thrust force, reduce ripple and normal force of motor, segmented trapezoidal PM shaping method proposed. Compared with conventional method, PMs achieves less ripple, greater lower manufacturing difficulty. The risk demagnetization fault has been taken into account. losses mover non-metallic light-weight structure effectiveness are verified by finite element experiment.
